The bride & groom would like to thank their parents for all of their love and support. Moms & dads – this special day is all because of you.
We love you!
Bob & Debbie Farb
Hi, we’re Debbie and Bob! Mandy’s parents. We were both born and raised in St. Louis and still live here today. We are very excited to have all of you come visit our city. We love warm weather and water. Most summer weekends we are at our condo at the Lake of the Ozarks and at least one week of the year we spend in Mexico.
Here’s our story of Mandy and Dustin’s first date. Mandy had recently moved to NYC for grad school and started a profile on a certain unnamed meet up website. She told us she might have found the “perfect guy, he lays Tefillan and loves Bacon”! What more could she ask for!!! Well they plan to meet for the first time in Long Island, wherever that is, we had no idea. Being a typical worried mother, I told Mandy I wanted a text from her every hour, so here are the infamous texts we received:

And so it began, end of chapter one.
Alan and Carole Wilk
Hi ! We’re Carole and Alan, but this blurb is from Carole, La Maman de Dustin. Alan and I were both raised in New York, but my accent is very Long Island and his, very Brooklynese. We love overcast days, about 70 degrees, and I’m happy to say that we made sure to teach Dustin to appreciate a good thunderstorm. Alan and I are very eclectic…. We have lots of interests, and share a great love of Dogs. We both cook, (we taught Dustin that, too!) and make and collect interesting “conversation pieces” for our house and garden. What we especially love to do is drive to Canada’s Ile D’orleans, where we found the best ice cream this side of Belgium. We’re also very funny, but disagree as to who is more entertaining.
Here’s our story of hearing about Mandy….The first thing I asked Dustin was GOING to be “Does she like dogs,?” because, really, that comes before the usual questions about religion, politics and the Yankees. But, my question only got as far as “Does she…” because Dustin knew to finish the thought, and said “Yes, she loves dogs, and so do her parents.” What more did we need to hear? And, something else to like… Mandy is often surrounded by Hebrew, which makes her very appreciative / tolerant of the fact that Dusty and I often communicate in another language. What a nice perk. And, she has dreamy eyes.
So, Alan and I will be at that wedding with bells on. I will be there, because I am Dusty’s mother. Alan, because he is married to me. And, he is married to me because Dustin asked him to marry me (!!) when Dustin was 9, and Alan said “yes!” It wasn’t as innovative and funky as a proposal via a dolphin, but I’ll take it. Mandy, merci de lui avoir dit “oui !”
If I can wake up Alan, he will write something, too. Congrats, you 2 !
HI ! Mechutanim here! Funny, I always thought the same thing when I knew Dusty was going on a date….. I was hoping he would stay alive as well! More soon, writing my own TOME…. 🙂 🙂
